Event Photographer Cardiff - Taith Celebration at the Senedd

Last week I photographed a fantastic event for Taith at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay, capturing their Journey celebration and the many stories behind it. As a regular event photographer in Cardiff, it was a pleasure to document a day filled with learning, connection and real international impact.

Taith is Wales’s international learning exchange programme, creating life-changing opportunities for people to learn, study and volunteer around the world. The event brought together grant recipients, project leads and supporters who have been part of these global exchanges.

A Celebration of International Learning in Cardiff Bay

The Senedd is one of my favourite venues for professional event photography in Cardiff, the natural light, open space and backdrop of Cardiff Bay always work well on camera. Taith’s Journey celebration filled the building with energy. Attendees shared their experiences from projects across Europe and beyond, many describing how travel and cultural exchange had shaped their confidence and ambitions.

The atmosphere was warm, optimistic and genuinely inspiring, making it ideal for natural, candid photography.

Speakers Who Made an Impact

The event was sponsored by Heledd Fychan AS, who opened the celebration and welcomed guests. A key moment was the appearance of former First Minister Mark Drakeford, who spoke about the importance of international learning and the wider value it brings to communities across Wales.

Capturing speakers is an important part of any corporate event photography project, and this event had plenty of strong moments, thoughtful reflections, humour, and genuine engagement from the audience.

Workshops, Conversations and Real Stories

Throughout the day, participants met with representatives from Cardiff Central Youth Service, who kept the atmosphere lively and supported attendees as they shared their experiences.

The workshops created natural opportunities for storytelling photography, people connecting over shared experiences, leaning in to talk, and celebrating the personal growth that Taith’s projects make possible. These candid moments often become the most valuable images for organisations to use later in reports, social content and websites.

A Flash-Mob Breakdance Surprise

A highlight of the day was an unexpected flash-mob breakdance performance, which lifted the room and brought out some brilliant reactions. Movement-based moments like this give great variety to the final gallery and help balance out the more formal elements of the event.

How Taith Will Use the Photography

The images from the day will be used across Taith’s website and social media channels, helping them highlight the impact of their programme and the range of people involved.
